About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require additional support to access learning and achieve their potential. You may provide 1:1 support, work with small groups, or assist within specialist and mainstream classroom settings.
You'll play a vital role in helping pupils develop confidence, independence, and positive engagement with education.
Pupils may present with a range of needs including:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- ADHD
- SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs)
- Learning difficulties
- Speech, Language and Communication Needs
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored support to pupils with additional needs
- Build positive and consistent relationships with pupils
- Support learning, emotional wellbeing, and classroom engagement
- Work alongside teachers and SENCOs to deliver individual support strategies
- Encourage confidence, independence, and positive behaviour
- Help create an inclusive and supportive learning environment
What We're Looking For
- Experience working with children or young people
- SEN experience is desirable but not essential
- A patient, resilient, and proactive approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people
