Class People is an independent education recruitment business with offices in Cheltenham, Bristol and Exeter. For over two decades, we’ve proudly supported schools, nurseries and education professionals across the South West. As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced and proactive Finance Manager to join our Cheltenham team.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director/Finance Director, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of all financial operations within the business. This is a hands-on and highly varied role, overseeing everything from financial reporting and compliance to cashflow management, payroll and office services.
This position offers hybrid working, with a blend of time in our Cheltenham office and remote working to support a healthy work–life balance.
Key Responsibilities

Maintain accurate and timely financial records within agreed systems

Produce monthly management accounts, including reconciliation of all key control accounts

Deliver financial reporting, KPIs and business MI data

Oversee weekly temporary worker timesheets, client invoicing and payroll processes

Manage weekly cashflow, ensuring suppliers are paid on time and client invoices are settled within agreed terms

Oversee monthly payroll and reconciliation with HMRC and pension providers

Ensure full VAT compliance

Lead credit control activities and act as the main point of contact for financial queries

Manage purchasing and office services

Prepare weekly bank reconciliations

Support the MD with any additional financial tasks as required
About You
We’re looking for a confident and experienced finance professional who thrives in a busy environment and enjoys taking ownership of end-to-end finance duties. You will be organised, detail-driven and comfortable working to deadlines, with excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
Experience in payroll, compliance, cashflow management and management accounts production is essential. Experience in a recruitment or service-based business would be beneficial, but not essential.
