Occupational Therapist Opportunities in SEN Schools Across Gloucestershire
Supporting children to access learning, independence and wellbeing
At Class People, we work with a range of SEN schools, alternative provisions and specialist settings that rely on highly skilled Occupational Therapists (OTs) to help children overcome barriers to learning and daily functioning. These schools look for OTs who can combine clinical expertise with empathy, creativity and a child-centred approach.
Whether you’re an experienced OT or looking to move into education-based therapy work, we’d be pleased to support your next step.
The Role of an Occupational Therapist in an SEN School
SEN schools depend on OTs to understand each pupil’s individual needs and design practical, impactful interventions. Your work may include:
-
Delivering 1:1 and small-group OT sessions tailored to pupils with ASD, SEMH needs, sensory processing differences, physical disabilities, developmental delays and complex needs
-
Completing assessments and contributing to EHCPs and multidisciplinary reviews
-
Supporting pupils to develop fine and gross motor skills, emotional regulation, sensory integration and daily living skills
-
Advising teachers and support staff on strategies, adaptations and classroom approaches
-
Creating personalised therapy plans that help pupils access learning with confidence
-
Working closely with SENCOs, speech therapists, physiotherapists and families
-
Helping build a calm, supportive environment where children feel safe and understood
Every school is unique, and we take care to place you in a setting that aligns with your experience and preferred way of working.
What We’re Looking For
We’d like to hear from Occupational Therapists who:
-
Hold a recognised OT qualification and HCPC registration
-
Have experience supporting children or young people with additional needs (clinical, community or education settings)
-
Understand sensory processing, motor development and functional independence
-
Communicate clearly and work well as part of a wider multidisciplinary team
-
Use creative, encouraging and trauma-informed approaches
-
Are able to manage a caseload and produce clear, purposeful documentation
Newly qualified OTs with relevant SEN or paediatric experience are also welcome.
