Across the Forest of Dean, our partner primary schools are looking for SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistants who bring patience, warmth, and a steady presence to the classroom. These roles aren’t about quick fixes; they’re about helping one child feel safe, understood, and able to learn in their own way.

What the Role Involves

Every 1:1 SEN placement is different, but your day may include:

• Offering personalised support to a child with additional learning, social, emotional, or communication needs

• Helping them regulate feelings, build confidence, and access tasks at a pace that works for them

• Working closely with teachers and the SENCo to adapt activities and create a consistent approach

• Encouraging independence through gentle routines and practical reassurance

• Celebrating the small wins — because for many children with SEN, tiny steps lead to big progress

What We’re Looking For

We’re keen to hear from TAs who:

• Have experience supporting children with SEN such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH or speech and language needs

• Are calm, observant and grounded, even on the busier days

• Communicate clearly and build trust with both pupils and staff

• Understand the importance of consistency in 1:1 provision

• Care deeply about giving children the chance to feel successful
