The school is seeking an experienced SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to join their team on a part-time basis. The number of days worked can be discussed to suit the right candidate.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and knowledgeable SENCO to lead and coordinate SEN provision within a primary setting, working closely with pupils, staff, parents and external agencies to ensure every child reaches their full potential.

Start date: Easter 2026

About You:

  • You’ll be an experienced primary teacher with a strong background in SEND.
  • You’ll be confident leading and coordinating SEN provision across the school.
  • You’ll have excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to support and guide staff effectively.
  • You’ll be passionate about inclusion and improving outcomes for pupils with additional needs.

What you need to join the Class People Team:

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status in England) – essential
  • National Award in Special Educational Needs Coordination – essential
  • Proven SENCO experience within a primary school setting - essential
  • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
  • An enhanced DBS certificate (registered with the Update Service or willing to apply through Class People)

Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Lead and oversee the implementation of the school’s SEN strategy and policy.
  • Coordinate provision for pupils with SEN, ensuring equitable support based on individual needs.
  • Carry out the graduated approach (assess, plan, do, review) to identify needs and monitor progress.
  • Work closely with teachers, senior leaders, parents and external professionals to develop and review individual support plans and EHCPs.
  • Chair annual reviews and provide regular progress updates and reports.
  • Design and deliver targeted interventions within and outside the classroom where required.
  • Support and advise teaching staff on effective SEN teaching and behaviour management strategies.
  • Manage SEN resources and contribute to budget planning.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date SEN records and analyse data to inform provision.
  • Keep up to date with national and local SEN policies and cascade relevant information to staff.

Pay Rates:

  • £150 per day to £250 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)
