Part-time caretaker
Due to working in a school, you will need to apply for a DBS for this role.
Class people are looking to recruit a part-time caretaker to work evenings and weekends at a primary school in central Bristol on a long term basis.
The role will involve providing efficient and effective caretaking support in the evenings and at weekends, ensuring the school sites are safe, secure and well-maintained for pupils, staff and visitors.
Hours- 15 hours per week
Monday -18:00-20:30
Tuesday- 18:30-21:00
Wednesday -19:30-22:00
Thursday -18:00-20:30
Friday- 18:00-20:30
Saturday 21:30-22:30 and 16:30-18:00 every other week
Sunday 21:30-22:30 and 16:30-18:00 every other week
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the security of the school premises after school hours, including locking doors, windows and setting alarms
- Carry out regular checks of the buildings and grounds to identify and report any health and safety hazards to the Estate Manager or Senior Leadership Team
- Support with the set-up and clear-up of after school activities, meetings or lettings as required
- Undertake basic cleaning and maintenance tasks, such as emptying bins, sweeping communal areas, and minor repairs
- Respond to emergencies, such as fire or security alarms, and liaise with emergency services if necessary
- Monitor and replenish cleaning and caretaker supplies as needed
- Ensure that all equipment and tools are stored safely and securely
- Report any safeguarding concerns in line with school policy
- Support the school’s commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of children
Person Specification
Qualifications and training
- Good standard of literacy and numeracy
- Willingness to undertake relevant training, such as, but not necessarily limited to, health and safety, safeguarding
Experience
- Experience of caretaking, sites management or similar practical work is desirable
- Experience in a school or similar environment is an advantage
Skills and knowledge
- Basic maintenance and cleaning skills
- Suitable knowledge of health and safety requirements
- Ability to use a range of tools and cleaning equipment safely
- Understanding of safeguarding and the need for confidentiality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and organisational skills
