About You:

  • An experienced primary teacher with a strong SEND background
  • National Award in SEN Coordination (essential)
  • Confident leading whole-school SEND provision
  • Passionate about inclusion and improving outcomes

You will bring previous experience from similar SENCO roles in primary schools, with the confidence to drive strategy, support staff and maintain strong relationships with families and external professionals.

What you need to join the Class People Team:

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status in England) – essential
  • National Award in Special Educational Needs Coordination – essential
  • Proven experience in school SENCO positions – essential
  • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
  • Enhanced DBS (Update Service or willing to apply)

Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Lead and oversee the implementation of the school’s SEND strategy and policy
  • Coordinate provision for pupils with SEN across the primary phase
  • Implement and monitor the graduated approach (Assess, Plan, Do, Review)
  • Chair annual reviews and manage EHCP processes
  • Work closely with senior leaders as part of the wider SEN leadership jobs remit
  • Support and advise teaching staff on inclusive practice and behaviour strategies
  • Manage SEN resources and contribute to budget planning
  • Maintain accurate records and analyse data to inform provision
  • Liaise with parents, carers and external agencies
