1:1 Teaching Assistant (Supporting a Child with Additional Needs)

Class People are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive primary school in North Bristol for a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child with additional needs.

This is a full-time role (5 days per week) and offers a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a child’s academic, social, and emotional development. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo, and other professionals to ensure the child can fully access learning and thrive within the school environment.

Key Responsibilities

Provide consistent, tailored 1:1 support
Implement strategies linked to EHCP targets (where applicable)
Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
Adapt classroom activities to meet individual learning needs
Encourage independence and confidence
Monitor and record progress
Work collaboratively with school staff and parents/carers

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Experience supporting children with additional needs (e.g. ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH)
A calm, nurturing, and patient approach
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to build positive, trusting relationships
A commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice
A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential)
