Tutor – Alternative Learning Provision (ALP)

Class People is working in partnership with an alternative provision to recruit a Tutor to support children and young people with SEND.

This role is ideal for a passionate educator who believes in individualised learning, high expectations and inclusive practice. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching across functional skills and your subject specialism, supporting learners to achieve positive outcomes aligned to their EHCPs.

You will work with small groups of learners, build strong professional relationships, and contribute to a safe, supportive and aspirational learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, differentiated teaching appropriate to learners’ needs

• Take responsibility for learner progress, attainment and outcomes

• Act as key worker for a small group of learners

• Use assessment and data to plan learning and set targets

• Maintain accurate records (ARBOR, CPOMS, learner reports)

• Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing and safeguarding at all times

• Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents/carers and external agencies

The successful candidate will

• Have experience teaching or tutoring learners with SEND or in alternative provision

• Be committed to inclusion, equity and learner-centred education

• Hold high expectations for learner behaviour, progress and achievement

• Be reflective, organised and committed to professional development

Additional duties may include supporting transitions, enrichment activities, or first aid/fire marshal responsibilities.
