Go the extra mile ? it?s less crowded

Go the extra mile ? it?s less crowded

Class People have received national recognition in recent years for our unique and innovative approach to recruiting within the education sector.

With both myself and Class People being shortlisted for 2 awards at the up and coming IRP awards 2018, I believe my success has been achieved by Class People promoting a work ethic which focuses on adding value to our clients and candidates by ?going the extra mile?.

A phrase regularly bounced around the recruitment sector, surprisingly going the extra mile isn?t very common amongst most recruitment consultants (or else it would be called the ordinary mile).

But what is ?going the extra mile? and why is it important?

First things first, Going the extra mile is not pulling a big show once a company give its clients free stuff or a one off breath-taking experience, it is a daily thing.  With Education Recruitment becoming more and more competitive I am constantly asking myself the question of ?what value am I personally adding to each individual school in which I work with and why should they work with me???

Winning ?the best newcomer to recruitment? at last year?s IRP awards has motivated me to further improve my relationships with both my candidates and clients and this is definitely something I pride myself on. With this in mind, I have now run/participated in a variety of events in order to support schools in what is a very turbulent time in the sector. Whether it be getting all green fingered, assisting local schools with garden renovations, or dragging my fianc? around with me to help local schools with their annual face painting stalls, I am always happy to give up my time inside and outside of core working hours to help wherever I can (Having a secondary Art teacher as a fianc? certainly has its benefits).

??Why do you do it? What do you gain from it???

A question regularly received and quite an easy one to answer. Not only does it clearly differentiate me from the generic 9-5 recruitment consultant, but it gives me great personal gratification too. Going the extra mile for my clients gives me a great sense of satisfaction from not only achieving a goal, but blowing that goal out of the water and providing my schools with a level of service they didn't expect.

Furthermore, I also believe it to improve client retention which is a specific focus not just for Class People but any business.  A subconscious trend within our sector is when recruitment consultants become complaisant, which is said to be highly damaging to client relations due to failing to recognise either new opportunities or potential hazards.

Though a short article, I hope this gives people an insight into the different ways in which I differentiate myself from my main competitors. However, notably my different approach to recruitment has been made possible from the training and development from Class People and having the ability to work with autonomy within my job role.
