Mentors & Mentoring Assistants – Herefordshire

Temp-to-Perm | Starts After May Half Term | Term-Time Only

We’re looking for passionate Mentors and Mentoring Assistants to support vulnerable young people and adults across Herefordshire in an alternative provision setting.

This is your chance to genuinely change lives—helping learners re-engage with education, build confidence, and develop essential life skills through 1:1 mentoring and creative, hands-on support.

The Role

You’ll work closely with young people and adults who have a range of additional needs, EHCP targets, and life challenges. No two days are the same.

You will:

  • Deliver 1:1 mentoring and build trusted relationships
  • Support EHCP targets and personal development goals
  • Deliver engaging, creative learning and life skills sessions
  • Help learners build confidence, resilience, and independence
  • Work alongside schools, councils, and professionals

About You

We’re looking for people who are:

  • Calm, patient, and great at building relationships
  • Confident handling challenging situations
  • Passionate about supporting vulnerable learners
  • Experienced in education, care, youth work, support work—or bring strong life experience

Hobbies like sport, music, gaming, cooking or fitness are a big plus and can be used in sessions.

Full UK driving licence required.

  • 18–34 hours per week (term-time only)
