Primary Teacher - MAT Leave

Role: Mixed-age EYFS/KS1 Teacher
Contract: Long-term supply, maternity cover
Start date: Within the next two weeks
Duration: Until the end of Term 6

Class People are seeking an experienced and adaptable Primary Teacher to provide long-term maternity cover at a welcoming school in the outskirts of Bath. The school is looking for one teacher who can commit to the full placement, providing consistency, stability and high-quality teaching throughout the maternity absence.

The successful candidate will teach a mixed Reception to Year 2 class during the mornings and a Reception to Year 3 class during the afternoons. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident teacher with strong EYFS and/or KS1 experience who enjoys working across different year groups.

The Role

• Plan and deliver shared inputs with differentiated, age-appropriate activities.
• Work closely with teaching assistants and one-to-one support staff.
• Maintain clear routines and provide continuity for pupils.
• Commit to the placement for the full maternity-cover period.
• Support a planned handover when the permanent teacher returns at the end of Term 6.

Classroom Support

The classroom benefits from support provided by a class teaching assistant and staff working individually with pupils. During literacy lessons, Reception pupils may complete Drawing Club with a teaching assistant while the teacher works with the Year 1 and Year 2 pupils.

Afternoon lessons generally begin with a shared input before pupils complete differentiated tasks linked to a common learning objective.

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for someone who:

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Has strong experience teaching within EYFS and/or KS1.
• Is confident teaching mixed-age classes, including pupils up to Year 3.
• Can plan effectively for a broad range of ages and abilities.
• Works collaboratively with teaching assistants and support staff.
• Is adaptable, organised and committed to delivering high-quality teaching.
• Can provide consistency for the full duration of the maternity cover.
